What’s your favorite kind of Girl Scout cookie?

Since I originally posted this blog entry, I have discvered a passionate and all-consuming love for the mint-chocolate Girl Guide cookies. Those things are amazing - and I generally DO NOT like mint-flavoured things. Not sure what makes these so special.

Yuck! Girl Guide cookies are like some cheap-ass knockoff of Oreo Cookies, which are one of the best cookies because they are so exceptionally well-adapted to being dunked in milk.

When you dunk an Oreo, it takes between 10 and 30 seconds for the milk to start to impregnate the cookie and make it soft. That’s not so long that you get tired of waiting, and not so short that the cookie gets immediately mushy and falls into the milk (where you have to fish it out and make a mess, not only of your fingers, but also of the sofa or your clothes).

Yes, Oreos are magical. Girl Guide cookies (Chocolate or “Vanilla”) are just a poor man’s version of Fudgee-Os (themselves a pale comparison to Oreos – including the stupid name that ends in “O”).

But then again, if they were the only thing available, I’d still eat them.

Fudgee-Os are, by far, the best manufactured cookie in existance. Anyone who says otherwise must have had some childhood tastebud trauma leaving them badly damanged and unable to appreciate the finer things in life. So my friend, I'm very sorry for your loss. The next best thing to a Fudgee-O, should Fudgee-O be unavailable due to the good taste of your neighbours, is the President's Choice Chocolate Chip Fudge Sandwichy cookie which is like a fudgee-o made out of the PC chocolate chocolate chip cookie. Substitution-wise, it is acceptable. However, Oreos – which I point out also is a "stupid name that ends in "O" – blow.

  2. Oreos start and end with an O, and were the first cookies to do so. "Fudgee-O" is a cheap attempt to cash in on a superior brand's name. And besides — the taste is so weak in a Fudgee-O. Fudgee-Os are to chocolate cookies what carob is to dark chocolate.
