Yay! yay! yay! We got our new X360 this weekend. Just by chance, after weeks of waiting, We finally found our Xbox Elite in stock on Saturday while out running errands. Of course that meant our weekend plans were shot all to hell, but for the better.
Actually, it's a good thing it took so long to find one. We needed the extra time to save money for it. Turns out it's a whole lot more expensive than we'd originally planned.
The unit itself cost $499 (because it's the fancy one with the hi-def output) but that's just the tip of the iceberg. We bought two games, a second controller (read joystick for those who haven't played video games since the '80s), and a second headset for playing online.
Speaking of which, we also both had to buy an online subscription (about $60/year) so we could with our friends remotely. Incidentally, Baby, we'll be pressuring you to get an Xbox now so you can play with Greg and us.
Moreover, as a result of this purchase, we had to upgrade our home network – another $200. All in all, the weekend cost us more than $1,000. Ouch.
But we're set now. As long as they don't decide to wheel out a next gen gaming system for a few years, we should have many hours of enjoyment.
Now, I just need to find a way to beg off work for a few days so I can immerse myself in Assassin's Creed.
