Ah the Moncton "skyline" as seen across the "Chocolate River" from Riverview.

That’s it. The weekend is over and, with it, two solid months of busy weekends. What a nice way to end it, though. We grabbed a Thursday evening flight with Porter Airlines – which now flies direct to Moncton offering reasonable rates and free booze – and spent a few days visiting my folks. No expectations, and nothing scheduled – just a bit of well-deserved downtime.

That’s not to say we did nothing. We went to a couple of group fitness classes at the newly opened Goodlife locations. We went out for a nice dinner where Dad, unfortunately, got soaked with a lapful of beer. We groused around the Dieppe farmer’s market where we picked up some lamb shanks from a local farmer and some fresh local organic produce before heading home to make dinner. And we got out to the local brew-pub (the Pump House) where we had fantastic micro brew with our friends G & V – always great to see old friends after a long absence.

We did little else but sleep in and bum around home in front of the telly – and in the hammock outside (we had beautiful weather!) – and that’s just how we planned it.

There were a couple more highlights, and we’ll address those in later posts, but while it was a great visit, it’s also nice to know that we have no other major travel plans between now and the end of the year. Let the winter cocooning begin!

While our last day was cool at 6 degrees, the rest of the weekend was hitting mid-teens - great weather for a blanket, a hammock, and a brandy.

The real Moncton Skyline.
