Junkii noticed a wet spot on the wall in our entryway last night – just before bedtime. Gah! We were able to confirm that there’s a copper pipe right behind the spot, so it’s pretty clear that there’s a leak happening behind the drywall. Just not sure how strong a leak it is.

Since we couldn’t do anything about it last night, I shut off the water main and by morning the wet spot had dried considerably. With the water back on today, however, it has started to come back. Not as seriously as last night, though, so I suppose that’s a good sign.

Guess the next step will be to cut a hole and have a plumber have a look, to see what’s going on. I stayed at home today and called our plumber – a relative of mine – but he’s too busy to come. And since I need to be at the office tomorrow, we’re going to aim for Friday morning.  We’ll have to keep turning the water main off as much as possible until then. Don’t want the damage to get any worse than it needs to.

Guess that means I’ll be pulling out my drywall repair equipment this weekend. Oh boy. What fun. Hope we still have some paint to match.

  1. Aw, what a pain! Hopefully the damage is minimal and it’s a quick fix.

Might be a false alarm. My uncle and step dad both say it could just be condensation – and since the “leak” doesn’t seem to be ongoing today with the water pressure back on, they may be right (fingers crossed). The wet spot on the wall is actually still dry, so maybe we dodged a bullet on this one. We’ll have to keep an eye on it though.
